Search using filters

  1. If your search yields a large number of results, you can use filters to refine your search and pinpoint the information you need.

  2. Click on the "Filter" button to access advanced filtering options.

Filter by node type: Select a specific node type: Note, Tag (Topic, Place, Company, Contact), Website, File or Album. This narrows down your search results for only that specific type of node.

Filter by tags: You can filter results by specific tags, topics, places, or any other relevant tag you've created.

Filter by Properties: Use property filters to refine your search even further. For instance, you can search for specific properties like anything with a star-rating of 4, or with a “done” checklist marked, and more. In addition, property filters allow you to specify conditions such as equal, not equal, greater than, less than, etc. to precisely define your search criteria. For example, search for everything with a star-rating above 4 stars, or with a deadline between the 1st and 31st January 2024, or a cost less than 100$, etc.

You can also add multiple property filters to create complex search queries based on various properties.

Filter by nodes: Filtering by nodes allows you to find information faster by narrowing down your search based on relationships to a specific node.

Choose the nodes that are relevant to what you're searching for. Nodes can represent various entities like topics, locations, people, or any other relevant category. For example, search for all nodes connected to John Smith from ACME corp. Or go deeper and search for all “restaurants” in “Barcelona” with a star rating above 4 stars (Property).

If you're not getting the desired results, you can refine your search by being more specific. You have a few options:

  • “In Common”: This option will show nodes that have relationships in common with your search criteria. It narrows down the results to nodes that share relationships.

  • “All”: This option will display all the nodes that are related to the selected nodes.

Exclude nodes: Filtering by excluding enables you to refine your search by specifying what you're not looking for. This can be especially useful when you want to narrow down your search results by eliminating nodes and their associated relationships that are irrelevant to your query.
